RMS Sound System

Throughout my time in Wellington I have had the pleasure of meeting people that are into the rave scene. Over the past few years we have held numerous raves in locations around Wellington for our friends and electronic music fans alike. Because of this we have amassed sound gear necessary to pull off these events to a high standard, slowly building up the system into what it is today.

The aim of this venture is to provide an alternative scene to the already established club scene in Wellington that we grew indifferent to. We wanted to provide a safe environment for people to come to, enjoy good music and ignite part of their adventurous side.

My role in this project/venture is the operator of the sound system, DJ and general organizer of the night. In this role I coordinate people, curate the music of my DJ set as well as curating the overall flow of genres at the event(order of DJ's) , set up and operate the sound system all night(making sure it sounds good) and sort out locations and logistics of moving gear.

There are other roles that are also responsible for making a successful event and no one can pull off something like this without those people. Johnny Gidlow and I co-own the sound system and also performs a similar role to me in relation to these events, with the addition of social media promotion.

Having all this gear presents an opportunity for us to hire the gear out to other people looking to hold their own events and will be looking to do this in the future.
